CHICAGO THEATRE
175 N State Street
Chicago, IL
The Wonder Theatre of The World as it was originally known, The Chicago Theatre was the first large scale movie palace of its kind when it opened in October 1921. After enjoying a robust history including performances by many of the jazz greats and a World's Fair in 1933, the theatre fell on harder times in the 1970s and 1980s, eventually closing in 1985. By 1986, after a multi-million dollar restoration, the theatre re-opened with a show featuring Frank Sinatra.
Seating capacity is about 3,600.
